Before now, users were forced to use xircon's built-in Tcl 7.6p2. This version is over two years old and many developments in Tcl have been made since then. While users still cannot use the Tcl/Tk GUI package due to a bug in xircon's tcl implementation, they can still use the latest versions of Tcl. Several addons, such as the FTP addon or the AOL Instant Messenger addon, utilize Tcl 8.1 functions, and do not work in xircon alone. To install tcl 8.4.1, download the two files below.

• Tcl 8.4.1 (11 mb), the latest full release of Tcl
• Tcl 8.1+ xircon hack (28 kb), to use the latest Tcl in xircon.
